Take down fake profiles, impersonation and deepfakes

Take down fake profiles, cloned accounts and synthetic images or video of you or your executives.

The short answer

Fake social accounts, cloned executive profiles and AI-generated images, audio or video are used for fraud, harassment and reputational attack. Most platforms prohibit impersonation and deceptive synthetic media, and UK law now addresses some of the most harmful forms. We capture evidence, file the reports that platforms act on, and escalate where they do not.

Who this is for

  • Executives whose identity is used in scams or fake investment adverts
  • Public figures and creators targeted by fake accounts
  • Anyone affected by synthetic intimate imagery

Who it is not for

  • Parody or commentary accounts that are clearly labelled and lawful

Routes we use

Each route is assessed before anything is filed. Strength ratings are general indications; every case turns on its facts.

How the work runs

  1. Eligibility reviewWe test each URL against the relevant law and platform policy before anything is filed.
  2. Evidence packWe build the submission: identity, context, dates, policy clauses and supporting documents.
  3. Submission and follow-upRequests are filed, tracked and chased. Refusals are appealed where grounds exist.
  4. FallbackWhere removal is refused or unavailable, we move the case to search repair.

Evidence you will need

  • Links to the fake accounts or media
  • Your genuine accounts
  • Any messages sent by the impersonator

What you receive

  • Evidence capture with timestamps
  • Reports filed across platforms
  • Escalation where needed
  • Ongoing watch for new accounts (with Brand Impersonation Watch)

What we cannot promise

  • New fake accounts can appear after takedown. Monitoring shortens their life but cannot prevent creation.
Legal boundary. Digital Repu coordinates removal casework and does not give legal advice. Where a legal route is needed, advice comes from regulated solicitors. See how we work with legal partners.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can a fake account come down?

Clear impersonation with good evidence is often removed within days. Speed depends on the platform.

Should I report scams to the police?

Yes. If money has been taken or fraud attempted, report it to Action Fraud (or the police in Scotland). We can prepare the evidence.

Can you remove a deepfake from the whole internet?

No one can promise that. We remove it from the platforms and search results where it is found and monitor for reposts.

Is creating a deepfake of me illegal?

Some forms, particularly intimate images, are criminal offences in the UK. Others may be unlawful under civil law. A solicitor can advise on your case.

Do you handle this confidentially?

Yes. Sensitive image cases are handled by a small named team only.

Is my enquiry confidential?

Yes. You can make first contact without giving your name, we sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share case details, and case files are held in restricted, encrypted storage with access limited to your case team.
