Remove harmful posts and impersonation on Threads

Report and remove Threads content that breaks the platform's rules or the law, with evidence and follow-through.

The short answer

Threads, Meta's text-based network, follows Meta's Community Standards, so harassment, impersonation and sharing private information are prohibited there just as on Instagram and Facebook. Because Threads profiles are linked to Instagram, fake accounts often appear on both. We handle them together.

Who this is for

  • People targeted by harmful Threads posts or accounts
  • Businesses facing false or abusive content on Threads
  • Anyone impersonated or exposed by a fake account

Who it is not for

  • Removing lawful criticism, satire or opinion from Threads

Routes we use

Each route is assessed before anything is filed. Strength ratings are general indications; every case turns on its facts.

How the work runs

  1. Eligibility reviewWe test each URL against the relevant law and platform policy before anything is filed.
  2. Evidence packWe build the submission: identity, context, dates, policy clauses and supporting documents.
  3. Submission and follow-upRequests are filed, tracked and chased. Refusals are appealed where grounds exist.
  4. FallbackWhere removal is refused or unavailable, we move the case to search repair.

Evidence you will need

  • Links to the posts, comments or accounts
  • Screenshots with dates
  • Your genuine account details
  • Any messages linked to the content

What you receive

  • Evidence captured with dates
  • Reports filed through the correct platform routes
  • Escalation where reports stall
  • Repost and new-account watch
  • Search clean-up once content is removed

What we cannot promise

  • Threads decides what breaches its rules. We cannot remove content that complies with them.
  • Screenshots and copies can circulate after removal. We monitor and act on them where the same rules apply.
Legal boundary. Digital Repu coordinates removal casework and does not give legal advice. Where a legal route is needed, advice comes from regulated solicitors. See how we work with legal partners.

Frequently asked questions

Is Threads covered by the same rules as Instagram?

Yes. Meta's Community Standards apply to Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads.

If the Instagram account is removed, does Threads go too?

Threads profiles are tied to Instagram accounts, so action on one often affects the other. We check both.

Will the person who posted it know it was me?

Platform reports are generally not shared with the poster, but some routes, such as copyright notices, can be. We explain this before filing.

Can you remove it from Google as well?

Yes. Once content is removed from the platform, we request removal of the outdated result from search.

Is my enquiry confidential?

Yes. You can make first contact without giving your name, we sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share case details, and case files are held in restricted, encrypted storage with access limited to your case team.
